Chesterton Boys Basketball wins twice in inaugural CHS Classic

The Chesterton boys basketball team picked up a pair of victories in the inaugural CHS Classic on Tuesday.

In the opener, the Trojans beat Northridge 56-47 after trailing 29-21 at the halftime break.

“I was really pleased with how we responded after them shooting really well and us not playing well in the first half,” Chesterton coach Marc Urban said. “

Sean Elliott led Chesterton with 18 points, while Tyler Vanderwoude (15 points) and Travis Grayson (13 points) also scored in double figures.

Rounding out the scoring were Charlie Eaton (6 point), Justin Sims (2 points) and Chris Mullen (2 points).

In the nightcap, the Trojans beat Rensselaer 70-42.

The Trojans built an early 29-13 lead through the first quarter and pushed it to 52-24 at halftime.

“It was good to see our guys come out and compete, play hard and be connected after a good win this morning,” Urban said. “I thought we shared the ball really well.”

Sims led CHS with 18 points, while Grayson (17 points) and Elliott (15 points) scored in double figures as well.

Rounding out the scoring were Luke Lombardini (6 points), Mullen (4 points), Vanderwoude (4 points), Eaton (3 points) and Owen Guest (3 points).
