JoAnn F. Burton,
81, of Beverly Hills, Florida, passed away at Life Care Center of Lecanto,
Florida, December 31, 2019.
She was born August
12, 1938, in Porter, IN, to the late George and Fern Coslet.
She married Robert
Burton, June 8, 1960.
A lifelong
resident, JoAnn relocated to Florida four and a half years ago. For many
years she and Robert belonged to a C.B. club, going by the handles of “Mean
Mama and Happy Daddy.” She enjoyed bowling, bingo, and reading until the
loss of her eyesight. After moving to Florida she spent many hours swimming
and dancing in the pool to Elvis songs.
In addition to her
parents, JoAnn is preceded in death by husband Robert, sons Jackie Burton,
Ricky LaHayne, Scott Holdren, her brother Lynn Coslet, sisters Judith Rumbut
and Jerilyn Esslinger. Also two granddaughters, Melissa and Christina Hill.
JoAnn is survived
by daughters Cindy (Danny) Smyth, Beverly Hills, FL, Judy (Tony) Reales
Chesterton, IN, Shelley (Keith) Hale, Susan (Troy) Deso, Stacey (Mark)
Schultz, all of Valparaiso, and Melissa Mackey, Portage.
Grandchildren:
Richard, Christopher, Josh, Ellie, Katie, Nicole, Amanda, Cooper, Jordan and
Trisha.
Great-grandchildren: Athena, Daniel, Cody, Nathan, Kylie, Karson, Autumn,
Bobby, Hailey, Ethan, Landon, Kasey, Lincoln, Cayden, Piper, Quinton, Cora,
and Benson.
Great-great-grandchildren: Keegan, Kingsley, Harmoni, Noah, and Ivy.
JoAnn was a
lifelong member of her beloved Porter United Methodist Church; always
remembering her church family fondly.
Celebration of Life
will be Sunday, January 26, at 1:00 p.m., at Porter UMC 100 E. Beam Street
Porter, Indiana, with Pastor Liz Lahaie officiating. A luncheon will follow
in the fellowship hall at the church.
In lieu of flowers,
memorials may be made to PUMC.
