Carl Hager, age 78,
of Chesterton, IN passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2019.
He was born on July
19, 1941, to Lawrence and Elizabeth (Lieber) Hager.
Carl is survived by
his loving wife of 55 years, Lillian Hager; son, Jeffery Hager of Jones, MI;
daughter, Jennifer (David) Melle of Valparaiso, IN; grandson, Justin
Higgerson of Wanatah, IN; sister, Kathleen (Cliff) Sherrard of Chesterton,
IN, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in
death by his parents, Lawrence C. and Elizabeth J. Hager and brother, Daniel
(Christina) Hager.
Carl graduated from
Chesterton High School in 1959. He retired from Bethlehem Steel in 1997
where he was a Supervisor in the Blast Furnace. He enjoyed hunting, fishing
and trapping. When his son Jeffery was younger Carl helped coach Little
League. He loved spending time with his grandson, liked to mushroom hunt and
look for arrowheads. He also enjoyed watching Nascar and going to races.
After retirement Carl enjoyed going to the library and he enjoyed his
friends in the reading room. He loved going to breakfast on Monday,
Wednesday and Friday at either Round the Clock or Sunrise and talking with
the friendly waitresses and waiters and friends he met along the way. Carl
had a special place in his heart for his wonderful AA friends and his
friends at Speedway.
Funeral Ceremony
will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Edmonds &
Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN 46304, with Pastor Lorrayne
Rizer officiating. Burial will take place following services at Chesterton
Cemetery.
Visitation will be
held on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
