Memorial Service Thursday for James Romanak, 69

James Romanak, age 69 of Chesterton, IN, passed away on December 22, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on June 14, 1949 in East Chicago, IN, to Anthony and Marie Romanak, both of whom preceded him in death.

On August 27, 1976, he married Cheryl Kemp Romanak, who survives in Chesterton.

Jim is survived by his daughters, Jamie (Fred) Rager of Valparaiso, IN and Carey (Colin) Elliot of Portage, IN; his grandchildren: Rylie Rager, Cole Rager and Prudence Elliott; his siblings, Reg (Sandra) Romanak of Crystal Lake, IL and Susan (John) Kinkade of Indianapolis, IN; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He is also preceded in death by his sons, Eric Romanak in 1980 and Chris Romanak in 2010.

Jim enjoyed spending time with his three favorite people in the world, his grandchildren. He also loved his cars and motorcycles and was always busy restoring them. He also enjoyed riding around his property on his four-wheeler and loved playing the guitar.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2018, at 6:30 p.m., at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S 2nd St., Chesterton, IN. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial donations given to the charity of the donor’s choice in memory of Jim.
