Donald Lee Pergal
of Chesterton, IN, went to his heavenly home surrounded by his loving family
on September 13, 2017, after a short struggle with pancreatic cancer.
Born on September
30, 1935, he was raised in Linton, Indiana.
Don was a Purdue
grad who spent much of his life in Indianapolis as owner of an executive
search firm and raising his family. Don greeted the world with a kindness
and selflessness that stood apart. He touched people with his loving heart
like few people can. He led his life as a true example of the phrase "and
you will know we are Christians by our love.” Along with a keen sense of
humor, Don's joy and passion for life and the world around him made him a
great friend and mentor, though his favorite role was Grandpa.
Don is survived by
his wife and true loving partner of 58 years, Joyce (Barker) Pergal, and
three children: Jeffrey Pergal (Sue) of Sun Prairie, WI; Gregory Pergal
(Kathy) of Carmel, IN; and Rebecca Whitmore (Brad) of Valparaiso IN; six
grandchildren: Courtney Beatty (Bret), Nicholas Pergal (Anna), Clayton
Pergal, Parker Whitmore, Ella Whitmore and Cole Pergal; and niece, Kim
Dawson (Bill) of Campbellsburg, KY.
Don was preceded in
death by his father and mother, Elmer and Anna Edna (Hoffeditz) Pergal, and
sister, Sally Scholl (Gary).
A Celebration of
Life will be held at the Chesterton United Methodist Church on Saturday,
September 30, 2017, with Visitation at 12:30 p.m. and service at 1:30 p.m.,
followed by a Celebration of Life.
