Services Tuesday for Leslie Les Friday, 88

Leslie “Les” Friday, age 88 of Chesterton, passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2016, at the VNA Hospice Center in Valparaiso.

He was born on March 23, 1928, in Chesterton, IN to Russell and Edie Johnson Friday, both of whom preceded him in death.

On June 4, 1949, at Saint Patrick Rectory, he married Doris Friday, who survives in Chesterton.

He is also survived by his children: Charlyce (Bob Manthei) Friday of Colorado, Sandy Friday of Chesterton, Jim Friday of Michigan, and Nancy Friday (Brent Hoag) of Colorado; his grandchildren: Andrea Buckley, Travis Babcock, Mark Babcock, Russell Friday, Lesley Friday, Grace Hoag, and Lucy Hoag; his siblings: Richard (LaVerne) Friday of Burns Harbor, Barbara (Dick) Newton of Arizona, Pat Carlson of Michigan, and Hank (Julie) Friday of Rolling Prairie; and by his seventeen great-grandchildren.

Les was a member of Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Chesterton. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1954 through 1956. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge 379 and the Moose Lodge 1623. He also worked twenty-five years in toll road maintenance. Les was a farmer who loved John Deere Tractors, but most of all, he loved his family.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at 10 a.m., at Saint Patrick Catholic Church, 638 North Calumet Road, Chesterton, IN with Father James Meade officiating.

The family will receive friends on Monday, December 19, 2016, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m., at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South Second Street, Chesterton with a Prayer Service at 5:30 p.m.
