Eva Watkins dies at age 76

Winter Haven resident Eva Watkins, passed away Monday, May 9, 2016, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Hospice Care.

She was born May 20, 1939, in Marion, Indiana, to Ollie and Gladys Richey, who preceded her in death.

She was preceded in death by one son, Terrance Watkins, six brothers, Chuck, Bill, Owen, Jim, Joe, and Richard.

She is survived by two sons Pete Watkins (wife Jo) of Haines City, Fla., Patrick Watkins of Orlando, Fla., and two daughters Vivian Besser of Winter Haven, Fla., and Beverly Watkins of Bakersfield, CA, one sister, Jerry Dunsizer of Winter Haven, Fla., and one brother David Richey of Tennessee. She has many grandchildren and a few great-grandchildren.

She was a women who loved life and loved helping others.

Eva Watkins has been a resident of Florida for many years. She went back to school at the age of 53 with her two sons Terrance and Pete to get her high school diploma. Then she decided to go to school to become a Home Health Aide, all the while caring for her ailing mother, and completed the course and obtained her Certificate. Once she received her diploma she started working at Bishop Gray Inn as a home health aide in the assisted living.

Her hobby was crocheting and she was always making something and thinking of others. She never followed patterns, it was always by sight. No two things were ever made the same way, they were all originals.

She was a very special mother, grandmother and friend to many, and will be greatly missed.

She was a member of the Church Of God.

Memorial service and Celebration of her heavenly entrance is to be held on May 20, 2016, at 1 p.m., in the Club House at Lake Deer Mobile Home Hamlet, 3301 Avenue G NW, Winter Haven, Florida, 33880.
