Loretta A. Knoblock dies at age 102

Loretta A. Knoblock, age 102, passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Life Care Center in Valparaiso.

She was born in Valparaiso, Ind. on July 22, 1910 to the late Anthony and Veronica (nee Yanke) Gast.

A life-long resident of Valparaiso, she was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, former member of St. Paul Women's Club, and a retired cook for the Valparaiso School System, working at St. Paul School, Cooks Corners Elementary, and Hayes Leonard Elementary for a total of 11 years.

She is survived by children, Joyce (Peter) Ferrari of Chesterton, Ind., Sylvia Wright of Valparaiso, Ind., Ralph (Phyllis) Knoblock of Valparaiso, Ind.; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren; and sister, Alice Flitter of Valparaiso, Ind.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Knoblock in 1973; two brothers, Arnold and Walter Gast.

Services will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. from the Dykes Funeral Home, 2305 N. Campbell St., Valparaiso, Ind., for an 11:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1855 W. Harrison Blvd., Valparaiso, Ind. with Rev. Joseph Pawlowski officiating. Burial will be at St. Paul Cemetery, Valparaiso, Ind.

Friends may call on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Dykes Funeral Home, with a 4:30 p.m. Wake service.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church and Life Care Center in Valparaiso, Ind.
