Glen L. Martin services Saturday

Glen L. Martin, 94, of Westville, Ind., formerly of Mishawaka, Ind., passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at St. Anthony's Hospital, Michigan City.

He was born March 12, 1918 in Mishawaka, Ind., to J. Andrew and Maude (Jodan) Martin, and remained a lifelong resident of Mishawaka.

He was a graduate of Mishawaka High School, class of 1937.

On October 17, 1941 in Mishawaka, Glen was united in marriage to Mary Jane Collins. They enjoyed 65 years of marriage until her passing on January 24, 2007.

He is survived by his three daughters, Shirley Lape of Trafalgar, IN; Sandra (Roger) Phelps of Westville, Ind.; and Rebekah R. Soule of Mishawaka, Ind.

Also surviving are ten grandchildren, Melanie (Ron) Saffles, Gary (Tina) Lape, Jr., Jeffrey D. (Lori) Martin, Michael (Linda) Mow, Mark Mow, Jill (Jerry) Janowski, Heather (Kevin) Morris, Shonda Masterson, Roger N. (Megan) Phelps, and Shane (Reannin) Soule, twenty-three great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and a sister-in-law, Catherine Martin of Mishawaka.

He was also preceded by a daughter, Linda Lou Mow on April 1, 2006, his brother, Don Martin, a granddaughter, Janet Sue Lape in 1984, and two great-grandchildren, Caleb C. Janowski, and Trevor Martin.

Martin retired from Wheelabrator-Frye as a set-up man, where he was employed for 48 years. It was a job he truly loved. He was very passionate about Mishawaka and Penn High Schools sports. He was an avid gardener, and always enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He was a former member of First Baptist Church, Mishawaka, and a member of Anchor Baptist Church in Seville, Florida.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 12, at Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan St., South Bend, Ind. Rev. Greg D. Crump will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 -9:00 p.m. (E.S.T.) Friday, and from 11:00 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
