Roy Pagels services Saturday

Roy H. Pagels, age 90 of Westville, Ind., passed away Monday, July 22, 2013, at 8:00 a.m. in his home.

He was born March 8, 1923, in Coolspring Twp., Ind. to the late Harry W. and Clara Mary (Glassman) Pagels.

On November 26, 1949 in Michigan City, Ind., he married Alberta M. "Bert" Grott, who preceded him on October 3, 2012.

Surviving are a son, John (Julie) Pagels of Westville, Ind.; daughter, Nancy Pagels of Westville; three grandsons, Zachary (Sarah) Pinkerton, Nicholas (Carly) Pagels and Timothy Pagels; and two great-grandchildren, Balian Pinkerton and Matilda Pagels.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer and Richard Pagels and two sisters, Dorothy Lee and Lois Vann.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II where he participated in the Normandy Invasion. Roy was a lifelong farmer and worked for Josam Manufacturing for 40 years until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #2536, the Moose Family Center #980 and enjoyed gardening.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2013, at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Ind., with Rev. Gerald Schweitzer officiating. Burial will follow in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.
