Jakob Dylan-Lee Kurdys, age 12 of Porter, Ind., passed away Saturday, April
27, 2013.
He was born on November 3, 2000, in Portage, Ind., to James and Lisa
(Hansen) Kurdys.
He is survived by his loving parents, James and Lisa of Porter, Ind.;
brothers, Paul Kurdys of Los Angeles, Calif., Anthony Kurdys of South Bend,
Ind., Mikey Johnson of Porter, Ind.; sister, Meghan Kurdys of Porter, Ind.;
maternal grandfather, Joseph “Papa” Hansen of Portage, Ind.; uncles, Dennis
(Melissa) Kurdys of St. Petersburg, Fla., Joe Hansen of Portage, Ind.; aunt,
Shari Deal of South Bend, Ind.; and godmother, Chana Hogan of Stauton, Ill.
Jakob had a heart of gold. He was a very generous child who always put
everyone else first. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. Jakob
was also member of the 6th grade band at Westchester Intermediate School
where he played the drums. He had a passion for martial arts, and was a
student at the Chesterton Martial Arts Academy. He also enjoyed roller
skating and playing music.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 3, 2013 at 11:30
a.m., with Father James Meade officiating, at St. Patrick Catholic Church,
638 N Calumet Road, Chesterton, Ind.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 2, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a
wake service at 7:30 p.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway,
Chesterton, IN, 46304.
Memorial Donations to the family may be made in Jakob’s name. Cremation is
being handled by Heritage Crematory.
