Edwin Losinski services Monday

Edwin Losinski, 91, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. in Hospice Franciscan Communities, Michigan City.

He was born June 14, 1922 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Andrew and Josephine (Chlebowski) Losinski.

In Michigan City, Ind., he married Irene Mizia who preceded him. On October 10, 1981 in Chesterton, Ind., he married Louise Povlock Jankowski, who survives in Michigan City, Ind.

Also surviving are a son, Daniel (Kathleen) Losinski of LaPorte, Ind.; three step-daughters, Paulene (Bernard) Poparad of Burns Harbor, Ind., Susan Weliver of Indianapolis, Ind., and Nancy (Richard) Collins of Chesterton, Ind.; step-son, Terry (Victoria) Jankowski of Valparaiso, Ind.; sister, Dolores Eisele of Michigan City, Ind.; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Irene Bechinski, Viola Woods, Leona Flanigan and Anna Schutte.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 30, 2013 at Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, with the Rev. Kevin Huber officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery with full military services conducted by the American Legion Skwiat Post 451 and the V.F.W. 2536.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and 8:30-9:30 a.m. Monday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Ind. The American Legion Skwiat Post 451 and the V.F.W. 2536 will conduct a memorial service at 5:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral chapel.

Edwin retired after 35 years from Royal Metal in the Research and Development Department. After his retirement he worked at Custom Interiors and Meijer.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and a member of Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, American Legion Skwiat Post 451 and the St. Joseph Young Men's Society. He enjoyed reading, puzzles, wood working and crafts and in his earlier days, golfing and bowling. Edwin made many birdhouses for all of his family.
