Arthur Matthew
Grimes, age 81, of Chesterton, Ind., formerly of Oak Park, Ill., passed away
Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at the VNA Hospice Center, Valparaiso, Ind.
He was born October
16, 1932, in Chicago, Ill., to Arthur J. and Martha (Fleischman) Grimes.
On May 18, 1957, he
married Tollie Jacklin, who survives along with their children Arthur Paul
(Polly) Grimes of Oak Park, Ill., Mary Karen (Kenneth) Gehrling of Chicago,
Ill., Phillip Michael (Cynthia) Grimes of Villa Park, Ill., Mary Katherine
(Patrick) Culkeen of Livonia, Mich., Stuart William (Colleen) Grimes of
Chesterton, Ind., sister, June Franks of Kenosha, Wis.; and grandchildren
Meghan, Benjamin (Katie), William, Melissa (Zack), Michael, Brian, Burke,
Brigit, Anya, Erin, Molly, Hannah and Liam.
He was preceded in
death by his parents, sister, Elizabeth Burgess and brother, Ralph Grimes.
Arthur served 12
years with the U.S. Naval Reserves in Glenview, Ill., and had been a member
of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Chicago. He began his career as
Maintenance Supervisor with G.J. Aigner Printing, then became a Regional
Lubrication Engineer with Mobil Oil before beginning his own business,
Universal Four, from 1975-2000. In 1980 he founded Lubrico, a supplier of
proprietary industrial lubricants which continues to be family owned.
Following cremation
at Angelcrest Crematory, a Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, May 4,
from 1 to 4 p.m. at Sand Creek Country Club, 1001 Sand Creek Dr.,
Chesterton, Ind.
