Wanda Williams services Tuesday

Wanda C. Williams, age 93 of Chesterton, Ind., passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at her home.

She was born September 26, 1918 in Gary, Ind., to Frank and Mary (Kasprzrk) Kurzwinski, both of whom preceded her in death.

She was married on February 8, 1943 to William P. Childers Sr., who preceded her in death on December 22, 1960. She was then married to Elmer Williams on May 9, 1964, and he preceded her in death on December 6, 1997.

Wanda is survived by her sons, William P. Childers of Chesterton, John E. Childers of Dallas, Texas, David L. (Heidi) Childers of Chesterton, Mark S. Childers of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Gary J. (Nancy) Childers of Ocoee, Fla.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Michael Dennis Childers; brothers, Frank and Mitchell Kurzwinski; and daughter-in-law, Rosslyn Childers.

Wanda was a lifelong area resident and was a member of the American Legion Post 170 Ladies Auxiliary. She worked as a kitchen helper for Duneland Schools for 15 years, retiring in 1983.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, Ind., with Pastor Craig Forwalter officiating. Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Monday, September 3, 2012 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the VNA Hospice of Porter County.
