Rita C. Blakley, age 80 of Chesterton, Ind., passed away Wednesday, November
7, 2012 in Valparaiso, Ind.
She was born
March 9, 1932 in Owensboro, Kentucky, to Arthur James and Jessie (Lantham)
Porter, both of whom preceded her in death.
Rita was married
in April 1950 to Charles O’Brien, who passed away in August 1963.
She was also
preceded in death by her second husband, George Blakley, in 2010.
Rita is survived
by her sons, Craig (Kelly) O’Brien, Daniel (Anna) O’Brien and Edward Blakley,
all of Chesterton; daughters, Pamela (Michael) Daly of Valparaiso, Ind.,
Debbie (Ian) Grant of Chesterton, and Diane (Roger) Dodrill of Valparaiso,
Ind.; sister, Hazel Porter of Owensboro, Ky.; and numerous grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
She was also
preceded in death by brothers, James, William and George Porter; sisters,
Martha Pierce and Cecelia Porter; and granddaughter, Rachel Phillips.
Rita was a
member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Chesterton Women of the Moose and the
Chesterton American Legion Auxiliary.
Funeral services
will be held Monday, November 12, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Edmonds & Evans
Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, with Father James Meade officiating.
Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery.
Visitation will
be held Sunday, November 11, 2012 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral
home, with a prayer service at 2:30 p.m.
Memorials may be
made to the VNA Hospice Center of Porter County.
