Service Sunday for Constance Jean Radiger

Constance Jean Radiger, age 88, of Chesterton, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012 in Valparaiso, Indiana.

She was born April 13, 1923 in Fort Wayne, Ind. to Clarence and Helen (Gramms) Ayres, both of whom preceded her in death.

She was married on February 26, 1949 to Henry “Hank” Radiger, who preceded her in death in 1974.

She is survived by her son, Bill (Karen) Radiger and daughter, Cindy Radiger , both of Chesterton; brother-in-law, John (Pat) Radiger of Union Mills, Ind.; sisters-in law, Carmen Ayres, of Calif., and Pat Ayres, of Fla.; grandchildren Cara (Kyle) Ellerthorpe of Chesterton and Lindsey (Michael) Roesch of Geneva, Ill.; cousin, Jim Robinson and family of Fort Wayne, Ind.; several nieces and nephews and grand dogs, Bufford and Hank.

She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Richard Ayres, Gerry Ayres and Tom Ayres; sister, Joanne Ton and parents-in-law, Henry and Emma Radiger.

Constance was a legal secretary for 49 years for Mox Ruge and Harris, Welsh & Lukmann and served as President of both the Jr. Women’s Club and Chesterton Women’s Bowling Association.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the wonderful caregivers of Back Home Again, Inc., especially Jennifer, Angie and Andrea and to Cinda on 2E ICU.

Funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 1 at 6:00 p.m. at Edmonds and Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. Cremation will take place at Heritage Crematory, Portage, Ind.

Visitation for Constance will be held on Sunday, April 1, 2012, prior to the service, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
