Patricia Elsie Bedenkop, age 58 of Chesterton, Ind., passed away Thursday, June 7, 2012 in Valparaiso, Ind.

She was born January 11, 1954 in Valparaiso, to David L. and Goldie F. (Biddle) Bedenkop, both of whom preceded her in death.

Patricia is survived by her loving sister, Sandra (Donald P.) Bedenkop-Morgenroth of Chesterton.

She was also preceded in death by her grandparents, Leland and Evelyn Bedenkop and Walter and Vine Biddle.

Patricia grew up in Chesterton and was a member of the Portage First United Methodist Church.

She attended Vale Day School and worked at the Shelter Workshop at Opportunity Enterprises and then for Lakeside. She resided at Appletree Group Home in Valparaiso. Patricia loved being with her sister, Sandy. She loved the Wizard of Oz and was always seen at the Wizard of Oz Festivals in her Dorothy dress with Toto in hand. Patricia also loved the Broadway production of CATS, which she saw six times. She loved being Grizzabella from CATS at Halloween parties, when she wasn’t Dorothy. Patricia enjoyed weekend trips to the movies and all holidays. She was greatly loved and will be missed.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, Ind., with Pastor Deb Rousselle officiating. Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 11, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the VNA Hospice Center of Porter County, the Portage First United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
