Dorothy Burrus, (nee Blachly), age 95 of Valparaiso, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2012.

She was born October 12, 1916, the daughter of Clyde and Anna (Ehlers) Blachly, in Union Township, Indiana.

On May 10, 1941 she married Franklin L. Burrus, who preceded her in death on June 4, 1987.

Surviving is a son David (Diana) Burrus of Valparaiso, a daughter Janet (Steven) Burrus Rogers of Illinois, eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a sister Ruth Swelsted of Valparaiso. Her parents, son LT. Col. George Burrus and daughter Marjorie Pierce preceded her in death.

Dorothy was a Rural Route mail carrier with the U.S. Post Office and a member of the First Baptist Church and the Super Seniors.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 2205 N. Campbell St., with Rev. Denver Ayres officiating. Burial will be in Blachly Cemetery, Valparaiso.

Visitation will be Saturday, 9:00 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m.
