Vivian Ann Henderson dies at age 81

Vivian Ann Henderson, age 81 of Lake Station, Ind., passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2011.

She was born on October 3, 1929 Ind. East Chicago, Ill., to Walter Lee and Vivian Ann (Taylor) Wahlsmith, who preceded her in death.

Vivian was a lifelong area resident and homemaker. She was a member of the Chesterton Southern Baptist Church. She also was a member of the women’s Missionary Society and a Deacon’s wife, Sunday school teacher and was very active with her church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth E. Henderson, two brothers, George Wayne Wahlsmith and Joseph Lee Wahlsmith.

Vivian is survived by sons, David Henderson of Shelbyville, Ind.; Kenneth Lee (Joyce) Henderson of South Haven; Richard (Diana) Henderson of Chesterton; John Thomas (Ruth) Henderson of Rockford, Mich.; daughter, Sandra (John) Goodpaster of Lake Station; sisters, Fleta Iva Milligan of Scottsburgh, Ind. and Evelyn Ann (Arthur) McKay of South Haven; aunt Geraldine Tharp of Robinson, Ill.; 21 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home Portage Chapel, 6941 Central Ave., Portage, Ind. with Rev Rick Henderson officiating. Burial will follow at Heritage Cemetery, Portage, Ind.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
