Service set for Elizabeth Lehocky

Elizabeth Lehocky of Chesterton, formerly of Miller, passed away Friday, February 18, 2011 at the Waters of Duneland. She was 89.

She was born December 30, 1921 in Gary, the daughter of Andrew and Mary (Bochn) Beres, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Steven J. Lehocky, who, after 58 years together, passed away in 2002.

She is survived by her children Michael (wife Paz) Lehocky of Portage, Cynthia (husband William) Hughes of Chesterton and Steven (Cindy) Lehocky of Hobart; three grandchildren Diego, Katherine and Jennifer; five great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth is preceded in death by all her siblings, Mary, Anne, George, Johnny and Peter.

Elizabeth was a cook in the Gary School System for 25 years, a member of the Bonner Senior Center in Portage, and a great cook and baker welcoming everyone into her home with a special seat at her table. She was hard working, kind and was known for her sense of humor.

A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, March 5 at 10 a.m. from St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 North Calumet Ave., Chesterton with Father James Meade officiating. Memorials may be made to the Porter County Cancer Society, 2502 Beech St. Unit 60, Valparaiso, IN 46383 in honor of Elizabeth.
