Rebecca 'Becky' Mehl dies at age 60

Rebecca “Becky” Mehl, age 60, of Valparaiso passed away Saturday, August 20, 2011 at the St. Joseph Medical Center in Mishawaka, Indiana.

She was born October 15, 1950, in Gary, Ind. to George H. and Jane (Auld) Luke, Sr.

She is survived by her loving husband Brian Mehl, of Valparaiso; her twin children Nicholas (Mandy) Mehl of Elkhart and Nancy Mehl of Valparaiso; her parents George and Jane Luke of Hobart; three grandchildren, Hunter, Kylee and James; two brothers Dean (Joyce) Luke and George Luke both of Hobart; a sister Martha (Ernie) Luke-Brunty of Valparaiso; niece Lauren Luke; nephew Matthew (Olivia) Luke and a brother-in-law Fred (Mae) Mehl. She was preceded in death by an infant brother.

She was an artist and homemaker. She was a founding member and current president of Painted Dunes Decorative Artists. She loved caring for her garden, traveling and Scuba Diving. Her favorite place other than anywhere her family was, was Maui.

A Celebration of Becky’s Life will begin at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, August 25, 2011 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home Portage Chapel, 6941 Central Avenue, Portage, Indiana.

A Memorial Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, at the Funeral Home.

Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
