Nancy Jean (nee Hodson) Kerr, age 86 of Chesterton, Indiana, passed away
Saturday, August 6, 2011 at her home.
She was born September 9, 1924 in Gary, Ind., to Ralph and Margaret (Murphy)
Hodson, both of whom preceded her in death.
Nancy graduated from Horace Mann High School in Gary, and attended both
Williams Woods College and Indiana University.
She was married on May 10, 1947 in Gary, to John M. Kerr, who preceded her
in death.
Nancy is survived by her son, John H. Kerr of Fall Brook, Calif. and his
children, Katherine “Katie” and John Thomas “JT”; son, Robert B. and wife
Elizabeth Kerr of Chesterton and their children, Robert “Max”, Adam and
Ellen.
She was also preceded by sisters, Patty Johnson and Sally Stroll.
While living in Chesterton and raising a family, Nancy volunteered her time
with First Presbyterian Church of the Dunes, St. John’s United Church, Meals
on Wheels and Duneland Resale Shop. Nancy also enjoyed knitting stocking
caps for newborns in local hospitals and was a member of Kappa Kappa Kappa
sorority.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 11:00 a.m.
at St. John United Church, 225 W. Lincoln Ave., Chesterton, with Pastor
Katie Lenburg officiating.
Arrangements are being handled by Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517
Broadway, Chesterton, Ind.
