Theodore 'Ted' Goebel dies at 56

Theodore Goebel, 56, of Valparaiso, passed away on Sunday May 17, 2009 at Porter Hospital Portage Campus, Portage.

Ted was born on March 18, 1953 in Fort Wayne, the son of Russell and Virginia (Foster) Goebel, both of whom preceded him in death.

On April 8, 1978 in Butler, IN he married Alexis Peden, who survives in Valparaiso

He is also survived by son, Adam (Michelle) Goebel, of Chesterton; daughters, Amanda (Matt) Larson, of Burns Harbor, and Allison Goebel of Indianapolis; a brother William (Mary) Goebel of Rantoul, Ill.; sister Nancy Goebel of Warsaw, Ind.; three grandchildren, Mikayla, Chloe’ and Kennedy.

He was a graduate of Marion High School Class of 1971 and attended Indiana State University where he obtained his B.S. in Park and Recreation in 1975. He worked for Westville Correctional Center as a recreation leader. Ted loved spending time with his family.

A funeral service will be at Noon Thursday, May 21 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. Interment will be at Angelcrest Cemetery, Valparaiso.

A visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. Wednesday May 20 at the funeral home.
