Ruth Carlson, 53, of Valparaiso, passed away July 31, 2009 at St. Anthony’s
Hospital, Crown Point.
She was born July 19, 1956 in Gary, the daughter of Harold Lindsay and
Delores (Blacka) Lindsay. Her mother survives. Her father preceded her in
death.
On September 1, 1979 in South Haven, she married Robert Carlson, who
survives.
She is also survived by three children, Ruth Carlson of Valparaiso, Cheryl
Carlson of Chesterton and Lisa Carlson of Chesterton; siblings, Penny Nicks,
Neta (Kevin) Reynolds, Harry (Virginia) Lindsay, Esther (Bob) Shinneman,
Bonnie (Clarence) Woods, Harold Lindsay, Elizabeth Curry and Russel
Lindsay.; sisters-in-law, Linda (Lyle) Couch and Debbie (John) Dobbins;
numerous nieces, nephews and many, many friends.
Ruth spent her life as a homemaker and enjoyed her family, sewing, cooking,
laughing and singing. She was a part of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in South
Haven.
A funeral service, Rev. John Allen and Rev. Bruce Ison officiating, will be
at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 5 at Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 4 at Emmanuel Baptist
Church. Memorials may be made to the Emmanuel Baptist Church in South Haven.
