Michael D. Dyson dies

Michael D. Dyson, of Dearborn Mich., formerly of Porter, died peacefully January 15, 2009 in Boston, Mass. with his loving family beside him, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Michael was born September 10, 1960 the son of Daniel J. Dyson, Sr., who survives in Porter, and Bobbie J. Dyson, who preceded him in death.

He is also survived by his step-mother, Marilyn; his children, Rachel Ann (Scott) Miller of Fla., David Thomas Dyson (fiancée Kristin) of Dearborn, Mich.; three grandchildren, Brianna Miller, Ethan Miller and Michael T. Dyson; brothers, Daniel J. (Connie) Dyson, Bruce T. (Mairale) Dyson; sisters, Jane Dyson and her partner Elizabeth Mauro and Diane Dyson; four nieces and nephews, Melissa, Jonathan, Joseph and Brooke Dyson; his Aunt Jackie and Uncle Ted, Aunt Marion and Uncle Doug; several cousins, including his “other” brother, Jerry Clegg, and many, many friends.

Michael continued throughout his illness to be a beacon of hope to others with medical and emotional crosses of their own. He never lost his sense of humor and enjoyed everyday.

He attended Seymour High School in Seymour, Conn. and the University of Indiana. He worked in the roll shop at Severstal Steel in Dearborn, Mich. In his spare time he loved making furniture, wood carvings and stained glass pictures. He also was an avid Detroit Tigers and Lions fan.

Prayers services will be Saturday, Jan. 24 at JL Peters Funeral Home, 3880 Fort St., Lincoln Park, Mich., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Henry’s Church, 1358 Council Ave. in Lincoln Park at 10 a.m. Interment will be at a later date.

Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 23 from 4-8 p.m. at JL Peters Funeral Home.
