Craig 'Hungry' Phegley dies at 37

Craig A. “Hungry” Phegley, 37, of Michigan City, died Saturday, January 24, 2009 in his home in Michigan City.

He was born January 17, 1972 in Michigan City the son of Charles V. Phegley and Johnnie Mae (Thompson) Downey, both of whom preceded him in death.

He is survived by a brother, Charles D. (Dianne); a nephew, Collin Phegley of Michigan City; fiancé Amy Wood of Michigan City; step-father Richard N. Downey of Chesterton; a brother Bryce (Rebecca) Glade of Griffith; step-sisters, Carrie Fennel of Michigan City and Christina C. (Matt) Mueller of Wheaton, Ill.; nephews and nieces, Jordan, Stefen and Megan Glade, Heather Fennel and Amber Mueller and many aunts, uncles and cousins in the south.

Craig had been employed with Sullair as a machinist in the rotor shop for 13 years. He loved sports, especially the White Sox. He enjoyed playing fantasy football, softball, darts, mystery shows, and playing on his computer. Craig will be remembered for having a heart of gold, always there to lend a helping hand or just to listen. He was a great friend and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.  

Services, Pastor Kim Cole officiating, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 30 at Carlisle Funeral Home, 613 Washington St., Michigan City.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29 at the funeral home.
