Luella Putchaven dies at 85

Luella “Lou” M. Putchaven, age 85 of Chesterton, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2008 at her home.

She was born on March 25, 1923 in Chicago, the daughter of Frank and Mae (Vileta) Panka, both of whom preceded her in death.

In Tennessee in 1941 she married Leo C. Putchaven, who preceded her in death

She is survived by her children Clete Putchaven of Chesterton, Larry (Karen) Putchaven of Chesterton, Greg (Devonna) Putchaven of Okla., Bunky (Corky) Heinold of Chesterton, Mary Lou Henderson of Portage, and 13 grandchildren and spouses and 17 great grandchildren.

Lou had been employed at Kingbury ammunition plant, H.F. Carlson’s and was co-owner of Brown’s Broadway Dairy with her good friends Myrtle and Louise. Lou was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. She will be sadly missed by her family as she was the dearest and best mother, grandmother and great grandma. She enjoyed all the people she met and always had a friendly smile on her face.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday Sept. 23,

Visitation will be Tuesday Sept. 23, from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. Private family interment will be at Chesterton Cemetery. www.ee-fh.com
