Donald R. Henry dies at 59

Donald R. Henry, of Michigan City, formerly of Chesterton, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 in Valparaiso. He was 59.

He was born on Oct. 18, 1948 in Coal Grove, Ohio to the late Charles Joseph and Betty (Walters) Henry.

He was married for 27 years to Darlene Henry, who survives in Michigan City.

He is also survived by his son, Donald R. (Merri) Henry Jr. of Waterloo, Ohio and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Edward K. of Ironton, Ohio and Charles D. of Columbus, Ohio.

Donald has lived in the Porter-LaPorte County area for 38 years. He worked for Bethlehem Steel, currently Arcelor-Mittal, for 38 years. He was a member of the CEC/Seabee Historical Foundation and the United Steelworkers Union #6787. He was a veteran of the US Navy SeaBee unit Navy Mobile Construction Batallion 62 based in Gulfport, MS. He was a Vietnam Veteran serving in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 30 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. Cremation will follow at Heritage Crematory, Portage.
