Mary Lou Szczechowiak dies at 81

Mary Lou Szczechowiak, of Porter, IN passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at her home. She was 81.

She was born on Nov. 26, 1926 in Gary, the daughter of John and Minnie (Teutsch) Ciceu, both of whom preceded her in death.

Mary Lou is survived by sons, Bruce (Cathy) Foreman of Indianapolis, Richard (Phyllis) Foreman of Schererville, Robert (Brenda) Foreman of Indianapolis, and John (Karen) Foreman of Valparaiso; daughters, Diana M. (Michael) Jones of Porter, Terrie (Tom) Fiacable of Chesterton, Mary Lou Marks of Valparaiso, and Donna Bunch of Hobart; daughter in law, Ann Foreman of Indianapolis; 25 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by sisters, Elizabeth Pejza and Alina Anderson.

Mary Lou retired from the Gary School System where she worked as a cashier. She was very active in many senior citizen groups especially at Christmas time with her generosity and caring for others. Mary Lou was proud of raising eight children and was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Funeral services, Pastor Dwayne Schmidt officiating, will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 5, at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, Portage Chapel, 6941 Central Ave., Portage. Cremation will follow at Heritage Crematory, Portage.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, from 4 p.m. until the time of services at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. www.EE-FH.com
