Ethel V. Michel dies at 91

Ethel V. Michel, of Danville, passed away September 1, 2008 in Mount Carmel West Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio, near her daughter’s home. She was 91.

She was born January 18, 1917 in Danville, Ind., the daughter of Clay and Faunna Hunt Vannice.

On June 11, 1936 in Danville, she married Norman W. Michel, who preceded her in death in 1971.

She is survived by a son, Maurice Michel of Greencastle; a daughter, Vicki Caldwell of Grove City, Ohio; grandchildren, Nicole Sherlock of Kailua, Hawaii, Kristin Laker of Shelbyville, Katherine Yoder of Summerville, S.C., Andrew Michel of Indianapolis; step granddaughter, Stephanie Cisek of Grove City, Ohio; six great grandchildren, three step great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A son, Jerry Michel preceded her in death in 1994.

Mrs. Michel was a graduate of Central Normal College, Danville and was a school teacher for many years in several school systems, retiring from Mill Creek Schools. She was a member of Tri Kappa Sorority. Her husband taught at Chesterton High School.

Funeral services, Pastor Michael Thornburg officiating, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 6 in Baker Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Friday, September 5 in Baker Funeral Home, Danville. Interment will follow service in Mud Pike Cemetery in Ripley County, Ind., near Delaware.
