Robert R. Lorenz dies at 90

Robert R. Lorenz, of Chesterton, passed away Friday, Sept. 14, 2007 at VNA Hospice Center, Valparaiso. He was 90.

He was born Sept. 3, 1917 in Liberty Twp., the son of Charles and Carrie (Brown) Lorenz, both of whom preceded him in death.

On May 1, 1944 in Chesterton, he married Louise Peters, who survives.

He is also survived by daughters, Peggy Eagen and Roberta (George) Estill; a brother, Donald Lorenz; two sisters, Marjorie (Harold) Hackelberg and Shirley (Jack) Havner; five grandchildren, Craig (Vivian) Woosley, Michelle (Warren) Smith, Christopher (Melissa) Avery, Jeremy (Marcia) Avery, Nicole (Todd) LaBerge; nine great grandchildren and one great-great grandson; four step-grandchildren and six step-great grandchildren.

He was also preceded by a son-in-law, Jerry Eagen and brothers, Leslie and Marion.

Bob was a contractor. He was a member of 1st Baptist Church. He also was a member of the Chesterton American Legion Post 170 and American Legion 40/8. He was a life member of D.A.V. Kentucky Colonel, the Labor Union and involved in Cub Scouts. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Funeral services, Rev. Larry Starett officiating, will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 19 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. Interment will be at Chesterton Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18 and Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home.
