Nellie Galen (Spencer) Cline dies at 90

Nellie Galen (Spencer) Cline, 90, of Syracuse, Ind., passed away Oct. 25, 2007 at her residence.

She was born Aug. 1, 1917 in Bryant, Ind. (Jay County), the daughter of Ernest and Lizzie (Spade) Spencer, both of whom preceded her in death.

She was married to Herman Elmer Cline, who preceded her in death Nov. 4, 1992.

She is survived by two daughters, Sondra (Larry) Moser of Brownsburg, Beverly “Kay” (Don) Harley of Syracuse; one son, Jerry (Shirley) Cline of Valparaiso; two sisters, Joan (Ralph) Rager of Ohio, and Alice (John) Smith of Ga.; one brother, Robert (Winona) Spencer of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren, 22-step great grandchildren

She was also preceded in death by three sisters.

Nellie grew up in Bryant, Ind., moved to Chesterton at 20 years old in 1940, and moved to Syracuse in 1971. She was a homemaker, inspector at Jay Garment in Chesterton and then an inspector at Plastic Factory in Chesterton, also provided babysitting in her home. She was a member of North Webster United Methodist Church since 1972, member of Turkey Creek Senior Citizens in Syracuse, and Church Circle in Chesterton.

Funeral services, Pastor Scott Mann and Pastor Brad Cox officiating, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 29, at North Webster United Methodist Church, 7822 E. Epworth Forest Rd., North Webster. Interment will be at McClintic Cemetery, Syracuse, Ind.

Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel in Syracuse

Memorials may be given to American Cancer Society or North Webster United Methodist Church.
