Harriet Ann Quigley dies at 76

Harriet Ann Quigley (nee Jackson) of Chesterton, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007 at her home.

She was born June 22, 1930 in Gary, the daughter of Malcom Lane Jackson and Ollie Mae (Spinks) Jackson, both of whom preceded her in death.

On July 19, 1952, she married Lawrence (Ladd) Quigley at St. Mary of the Lake Parsonage in Miller. He survives in Chesterton.

She is also survived by five children, Patty (Jim) Quigley-Carriveau of South Daytona, Fla., Jennifer (Rod) Swickard of Valparaiso, Larry B. Quigley of Brown Deer, Wis., Shawn (Vicki) Quigley of Lafayette and Kathleen Seeley of Chesterton; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; one great-grandson; two step-great-grandsons and three step-great-granddaughters; two sisters, Barbara (Gordon Johnson) Scully of Ogden Dunes and Joyce Frazier of Valparaiso; many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Harriet was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and a great friend; a lover of children and motherhood and a woman of faith. She was described by family members as a real lady and will be greatly missed.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Chesterton. She was a retired secretary with the Duneland School Corporation, where she worked for 15 years. She was a 1948 graduate of Horace Mann High School, Gary.

Funeral services, Pastor Terry C. Rhine officiating, will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19 at First United Methodist Church, 424 S. 2nd St., Chesterton. Interment will be at Chesterton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton, and Friday from 1-2 p.m. at the Church. A prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to the Porter County Visiting Nurse Association or to Porter County VNA Horton Hospice Center.
