Crystal M. Hrapek dies at 84

Crystal M. Hrapek, of Chesterton, passed away Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007 at Waters of Duneland Health Care Center, Chesterton. She was 84.

She was born Jan. 29, 1923 in Marshfield, Wis., the daughter of Christian and Marie (Thompson) Jensen, both of whom preceded her in death.

On July 20, 1944 in Marshfield, she married Joseph Hrapek, who preceded her in death June 22, 1997.

She is survived by a son, Paul Joseph (Susan) Hrapek of Kipling, Canada; a daughter, JoAnn Gombos, of Schererville; a brother, Harold (Neva) Jensen of LaCrosse, Wis.; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Allen Hrapek and three brothers, Robert, Gordon and William Jensen.

A memorial service, Rev. Terry Rhine officiating, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11 at Chesterton First United Methodist Church, 434 S. 2nd St., Chesterton. Interment of Ashes will be at Chesterton Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11 at Chesterton First United Methodist Church

Crystal was a home maker and was a member of Chesterton First United Methodist Church. Crystal was named most outstanding female vocalist in 1941. She was a member of the University Choral Society and the Chicago Swedish Choral Society. She was a soloist for the Christian Science Church for many years, and was a member of the Ladybugs. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi, XI Gamma Lambda Chapter Alpha Sigma, The Women’s Elizabeth Circle Northland United Methodist and the Chesterton Women of the Moose Lodge.

Arrangements are under the direction of Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, Chesterton.
