The Porter County
Health Department was reporting this morning 20 new COVID-19 cases over the
last 24 hours (10 new cases on Thursday), to bring the total so far to
1,894, up from 1,874 on Thursday.
Of those 20 new
cases, fourteen--or 70 percent--were diagnosed among the younger
demographics: seven in the 9-19 (278 total); one in the 20-29 (377 total);
four in the 30-39 (284 total); and two in the 40-49 (290 total).
To date, 278 cases
have been diagnosed in children or teens, or 14.7 percent of all cases (14.5
percent on Thursday). On July 7, only 39 children or teens had been
diagnosed of the 765 total cases at the time: or 5.1 percent.
Meanwhile, six
patients are currently hospitalzed, up from five on Thursday. Total active
cases in Porter County: 167, up from 147 on Thursday.
A total of 116
cases has been reported in Porter County’s long-term care facilities,
unchanged from Thursday. Of those 116 cases, one is currently hospitalized,
29 have died, and 81 have recovered, also unchanged from Thursday.
No additional
deaths from COVID-19 were reported this morning. To date, 45 Porter County
residents have succumbed to COVID-19.

cases (203 on Thursday). Twenty-six active cases.
-- Liberty: 105
cases (100 on Thursday). Eighteen active cases.
-- Jackson: 29
cases (unchanged from Thursday). Five active cases.
-- Pine: 11 cases
(unchanged from Thursday). No active cases.
Other townships:
-- Portage: 657
cases (654 on Thursday). Thirty-three active cases.
-- Center: 528
cases (525 on Thursday). Forty-three active cases. Center Township’s total
includes Valparaiso University students.
-- Washington: 89
cases (unchanged from Thursday). Ten active cases. Washington Township’s
total includes Porter County Jail inmates.
-- Union: 102 cases
(101 on Thursday). Eleven active cases.
The Indiana State
Department of Health (ISDH) was reporting this morning 1,282 new cases of
COVID-19 over the last 24 hours (764 new cases on Thursday), to bring the
total so far to 103,505, up from 102,243 on Thursday.
ISDH was also
reporting 10 additional COVID-19 deaths over the last 24 hours (13
additional deaths on Thursday), to bring the total to date to 3,433, up from
3,423 on Thursday.
Marion County was
reporting today 19,549 cases (19,387 on Wednesday) and 754 deaths (752), the
most in the state in both categories. Lake County was reporting 9,732 cases
(9,601) and 307 deaths (301), the second most in the state in both
categories. LaPorte County was reporting 1,293 cases (1,254) and 37 deaths
(37).
The total COVID-19
death count includes both confirmed and presumptive deaths to date.
Presumptive deaths are those for which x-ray, scans, and clinical symptoms
all point to COVID-19 but for which no positive test is on record. A total
of 224 presumptive deaths was reported today, unchanged from Thursday.
