Statewide: C19 cases top 30,000; deaths near 2,000

The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) was reporting this morning 493 new COVID-19 cases over the last 24 hours (676 new cases on Thursday), to bring total confirmed cases in the state to 30,409, up from 29,936, an increase of 1.6 percent.

ISDH was also reporting 27 additional deaths over the last 24 hours (48 additional deaths on Thursday), to bring the total in the state so far to 1,791 up from 1,764, an increase of 1.5 percent. The number of probable COVID-19 deaths to date: 150. Probable deaths are those for which x-ray, scans, and clinical symptoms all point to COVID-19 but for which no positive test is on record. Total confirmed and probable COVID-19 deaths in Indiana: 1,941 (1,913 on Thursday).

Nursing home cases and deaths to date: 3,625 cases and 732 deaths (unchanged from Thursday). Number of nursing home facilities in the state with at least one case of COVID-19: 212. Number with at least one death: 129.

208,561 tests have been reported to date to ISDH, up from 202,995 on Thursday, an increase of 2.7 percent over the last 24 hours, with a positive rate of 14.6 percent. Tests are being conducted by ISDH, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and private laboratories.

Tests in Porter County: 3,684 (3,578 on Thursday). In Lake County: 19,100 (18,824). In LaPorte County: 3,060 (3,004).

Marion County has the most reported cases, 8,928 (8,815 on Thursday); and the most deaths, 528 (518). Lake County has reported 3,128 cases (3,087) and 166 deaths (162), the second highest in the state in both categories. LaPorte County has reported 376 cases and 20 deaths (373 and 17).
