Schools report ten new COVID cases

The Duneland School Corporation (DSC) reported 10 new cases of COVID-19 among students and staff after deadline on Monday.

Four cases were reported at Chesterton High School (no close contacts); two at Chesterton Middle School (one close contact); two in Transportation (no close contacts); and one each at Jackson Elementary and Westchester Intermediate (no close contacts).

 Active cases as of Monday: 36 (27 on Sunday).

-- CHS: 12 (eight on Sunday).

-- Remote students: one (one).

-- Liberty Intermediate: two (two).

-- Yost: one (one).

-- CMS: four (two).

-- Liberty Elementary: three (three).

-- WIS: four (four).

-- Jackson: one (none).

-- Bailly: one (one).

-- Brummitt: none (none)

-- Other: seven (five).

Since classes began in August, DSC has reported a total of 233 COVID-19 infections among students and staff (223 on Sunday).

DSC is urging parents to continue to report their children’s positive test results to the administration.
