Schools report 11 new COVID cases

The Duneland School Corporation (DSC) reported 11 new cases of COVID-19 among students and staff on Monday.

DSC reported three new cases at Chesterton High School (seven close contacts total); two at Liberty Elementary (no close contacts); two at Liberty Intermediate (no close contacts); two at Westchester Intermediate (no close contacts); one at Chesterton Middle School (12 close contacts total); and one at Yost Elementary (no close contacts).

 Active cases totaled 35 as of Monday (27 on Sunday):

-- CHS: 11 (eight on Sunday).

-- Remote students: three (three).

-- Liberty Intermediate: three (one).

-- Yost: one (one).

-- CMS: two (two).

-- Liberty Elementary: two (one).

-- WIS: seven (five).

-- Jackson: none (none).

-- Bailly: two (three).

-- Brummitt: one (one)

-- Other: three (two).

Since classes began in August, DSC has reported a total of 212 COVID-19 infections among students and staff (201 on Sunday).

DSC is urging parents to continue to report their children’s positive test results to the administration.
