Liberty Township Volunteer Fire needs new applicants

Back To Front Page

Volunteer firefighters are needed around Porter County to help serve and protect the residents that call Porter County home. There are over a dozen Volunteer Fire Departments that serve Porter County, providing fire protection and Emergency Medical Services that are in need of volunteers to become the next first responder to answer the call for help.

Liberty Township Volunteer Fire Department, like many, is looking for volunteers with a desire to help serve their community.

The Northwest Indiana District 1 Firefighter Recruit Academy is expected to start August 17. The academy meets three times a week in the evening hours, for applicants to master both the mental and physical skills necessary for the job.

Recruits can expect to learn real-life skills in life-saving CPR, Structural Firefighting, Hazardous Material Awareness and Operations, Technical Rescue Awareness, and many more skills! Best part about the academy is that it is free!

Recruits must be at least 18 years of age to apply and have a reliable means of transportation. Other conditions apply and can be found on the application. Applications can be picked up at the Liberty fire department, located at 47 West 900 North just across the street from the Liberty Schools.

Those interested are highly encouraged to get their application in as soon as possible. Applications can also be downloaded from www.libertytrustee.com/fire-department.

For more information about being a future firefighter serving Liberty Township or if you’re unsure of your fire department, please contact Liberty Volunteer Fire by e-mail at info@libertyfd.org
