Voice of the People

With the recent 30 percent increase in my real estate taxes they are equal to my previous mortgage payments. I would like to find the market at which my house has been valued. Has it maybe been declared an historic land mark?

The big spenders in government still don’t seem to get it. Every level of government is at the breaking point financially. Spending must be curtailed.

I drove 20 miles each way to work for 22 years without being subsidized by the tax payers. Why must I pay for the South Shore extension so more Illinois people can move here and keep their high paying jobs in Chicago? A fitting name for the proposed rail extension would be The Black Hole Line since it will suck many millions from taxpayers pockets for many years to come. And the idea that it will bring many thousands of jobs here is a complete fallacy.
