In Tuesday, July 11th’s sidewalk waiver article, town council member, Mike Bannon, was quoted: “I’ve seen sidewalks from nowhere become sidewalks to somewhere.”

It’s too bad the Chesterton town council sentiments didn’t reflect this attitude when the new WiseWay was granted its “no sidewalk waiver.” There were also no plans for a right turn only access lane on Pioneer Trail from WiseWay. So, not only is there traffic control back-up problems but pedestrians and bicyclists are at risk.

Hopefully at 5th and 1100N the town of Chesterton won’t be making the same short-sighted traffic and waiver decisions.
