Coffee Creek Center traffic maze made worse by illegal parking

Voice of the People

When Lake Erie and IDOT decided to close off 1050N, we were told that we would find a way to get to SR 49. We now have to wind our way through their maze, past the fountain, and deal with people not only parking on the wrong side of the street, but into the street as well. Especially when there is a function at the fountain like a wedding or concert.

I would like to know when the police are going to start cracking down on these offenders. I do believe it is against the law to park against traffic.

Also, by the shops at the corner of 1050N and Dickenson Rd., Customers are also parking facing oncoming traffic. If a person parks on the north side of 1050N facing east, when they pull out, they are pulling directly into the path of westbound motorists.

I have complained to the Chesterton Police Department about this issue, but it seems that it is falling on deaf ears. It is bad enough that they narrowed down our road, but we have all of this to contend with as well.

Then there is the issue of motorists exiting either the Toll Road or SR 49 wanting to go to Speedway. They DO NOT look to the east for motorists going westbound toward 49. There needs to be a sign erected stating oncoming traffic.

As long as I am venting my frustrations, I do believe it is against the law to litter. You would not know this by the amount of garbage that I have to pick up between Dickinson Rd. and 200E on 1050N. Keep your garbage in your car until you can find a container. Please do not throw it on my property.
