Voice of the People

I have a son who will soon be graduating from CHS. As graduation approaches, many friends and acquaintances have asked me what my son has planned for his future. When I tell them that he has joined the U.S. Navy, they get a concerned look on their face and ask, “Are you OK with that?” Not only am I “OK” with it, I am proud of it!

For these people to ask such a question is to show a lack of respect to all who are serving or have served our country. They should be grateful that there are people willing to join the military and protect our way of life. I hope that we all think about that this Memorial Day.

So to all of the folks who asked me “am I OK with it?,” I say this: I have a son who chooses to serve something bigger than himself. Yeah, I’m OK with it!
