Voice of the People
“BH declines to support South Shore Expansion”
Isn’t that the greatest headline the people of Burns Harbor could see?
Finally there are town officals speaking for the people. They are saying no
to the South Shore Expansion which would entail a new tax on Lake and Porter
County residents. We can’t allow Porter County to get involved in this
expansion. We are already being taxed out of our homes. We already have a
CEDIT tax that I still can’t figure out where that money is going.
Think about it. The cost of this expansion is tremendous and that cost will
never go away. It will get bigger and bigger as this expansion moves on, even
after its complete, it will continue to cost us. Repairs will be necessary,
more South Shore cars will be needed, there won’t be enough riders, so the
South Shore Line will need more money to keep the line running from the new
areas that its going to have to service. There will be no end to the cost of
this expansion.
Wake up people if you want to take the South Shore to Chicago drive to one of
the Train Stations and get on board. Let’s keep the cost to riders of the
train. They are the ones that are claiming that they are working in Chicago
because they make more money. Great pay the price to get there. I don’t want
to pay for the expansion it won’t help me or my family. Don’t need it don’t
want it.
To the Town of Chesterton please get on board with Burns Harbor, decline to
support the South Shore Expansion, and lets take care of our own. The fire
department needs a new fire truck that's what we need to support.
Sincerely,
Ken Crago
