His voice displaying obvious emotion, Porter Town Council president Greg
Stinson announced Tuesday the resignation of member Bill Cantrell for health
Cantrell last attended the May 22 meeting after returning from an extended
absence. Stinson said the resignation is effective July 1.
Cantrell, a Democrat, took office Jan. 1. He has been a long-time member of
the Porter Stormwater Management Board and regularly attended Town Council
meetings prior to his election.
Said Stinson regarding Cantrell’s resignation, “I’m very sorry. He’s been a
valuable colleague. I hope he will continue to offer me advice. His
knowledge of the town has been invaluable to me in making decisions.”
By consensus the council declared June 26 Bill Cantrell Day in Porter.
The resolution states that the town is a better place because of Cantrell’s
selfless commitment to his community.
At the May 22 meeting Cantrell thanked everyone who supported him in his
medical battle and expressed his appreciation.
