Porter Town Council to vote on Childress farm rezoning

The Porter Town Council will convene at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Porter Town Hall, 303 Franklin St.

On the agenda is resident Paul Childress’ request to rezone his property at 1035 Wagner Rd. for the purpose of developing a self-sustaining farm operation with produce and animals.

The Advisory Plan Commission last month voted 6-0 to send the request with its no recommendation after hearing remonstrances by neighbors in Wagner Hill and Dunes Meadows subdivisions. Rezoning requests are ultimately decided on by the Council.

In other business, the Council will consider two ordinances. The first is to increase the Town’s monthly stormwater fee from $4 to $6. The Stormwater Management Board recently passed a recommendation to increase the fee at its October meeting. A public hearing for the fee took place at that meeting.

The second ordinance regards trash collections.

In old business, the Council will hold second reading on appropriating $46,000 in the Parks Donations funds.

The Council will also hear reports from department heads. The public may make comments and present petitions at the start of the meeting.

Meeting cancellations

Due to next week being the week of Thanksgiving, Town officials originally scheduled the November meetings for the Stormwater Management Board and the Redevelopment Commission for this Tuesday instead of Nov. 22.

Both of those meetings, as well as the Police Commission meeting, have been canceled due to lack of business.
