Porter Town Council public hearing October 27 on proposed Porter Beach vacations

The Porter Town Council will hold a public hearing at its next meeting, 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, on a raft of alley and street vacations in Porter Beach being requested by Russell and Susan Brandstetter.

The single reason stated by the Brandstetters for the proposed vacations: “Want to create development potential for surrounding vacant lots.”

The vacations requested:

-- The closure of certain portions of an alley between State Street and Wabash Ave. off Bote Drive. Impacted neighboring properties: 2841 Eyrie Drive and 2848 Wabash Ave.

-- The closure of certain portions of Lakewood Drive off Roskin Road. Impacted neighboring property: 318 Roskin Road.

-- The closure of certain portions of State Street off Roskin Road. Impacted neighboring properties: 2810 Wabash Ave., 2812 Eyrie Drive, and 160 Roskin Road.

-- The closure of certain portions of State Street off Bote Drive. Impacted neighboring properties: 2841 Eyrie Drive and 161 Bote Drive.

-- The closure of certain portions of State Street off Duneland Drive. Impacted neighboring properties: 2942, 2933, and 2535 State St.

-- And the closure of certain portions of an alley between State Street and Dearborn Street. Impacted neighboring properties: 3001 Duneland Drive and 2919 Dearborn St.

No further information was available at Tuesday’s meeting either on the proposed vacations or on the kind of development being entertained by the Brandstetters.
