The Porter Town Council meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday for its regular meeting at Porter Town Hall, 303 Franklin St.

On the agenda, the Council will consider an ordinance to amend to the Town’s code on domestic animals and pets. The proposed amendment calls for a ban of pets on the Town’s lakefront beach property on the east of State Street.

Also on the topic of animals, the Council will discuss an animal control service contract with Porter County Animal Control. The contract cost for Porter is the second highest municipal agreement at $11,520 per year. The Porter County Sheriff’s Police which enforces Animal Control divvied up the costs among the county and cities and towns based on the number of calls received in the past few years. Since 2010, Porter has had 3 percent total of the number of Animal Control calls.

In other business, the Council will vote a resolution for an interlocal agreement for the Dunes-Kankakee Trail. The Town’s health insurance plan will be discussed and the purchase of a public works vehicle.

Town Department heads will make their reports to the Council. The Council will give time to hear comments and petitions from the floor.
