Town Council to meet twice Monday

The Chesterton Town Council will meet Monday for its regular meeting at 7 p.m.The Council will also hold a special meeting at 5 p.m. to view the Indiana State Board of Accounts’ video on internal controls.

According to a new state law, political subdivisions must adopt a minimum standards for internal controls ensuring that personnel receive training of how tax dollars are handled.

Also at that special meeting, the Council will review proposed 2017 credit expenses.

On the agenda for the regular meeting, there will be a public hearing on Benlaw Enterprises’ petition to vacate a portion of the public right-of-way at 2190 Westchester Avenue. The Council will then consider an ordinance to vacate a portion of the public way.

A second ordinance to be considered is an amendment to the Planned Unit Development for Easton Park. The Plan Commission this month voted 6-0 in favor of the amendment to make corrections to some lot numbers in Phase 1 and changing the yard set backs from five to four feet.

In old business, the Council will discuss a sidewalk wavier for Tamarack subdivision.

There will be time for citizens to make comments or give petitions on non-agenda items.

The meetings will be at Chesterton Town Hall, 726 Broadway.

Redevelopment Commission

The Chesterton Redevelopment Commission will hold its regular meeting at 6 p.m. at Chesterton Town Hall.

The agenda lists no new or old business. The public can make comments or petitions from the floor.
