Back To Front Page

The Chesterton Town Council is inviting residents interested in serving on the Advisory Plan Commission to apply for the open seat vacated by the resignation of George Stone.

Applicants must reside in the Town of Chesterton. The single requirement regarding political affiliation: applicants may not be Republicans.

Letters of interest should be submitted to the Clerk-Treasurer’s Office, 1490 Broadway, by 4:30 p.m. Friday, June 12. Interviews will then be scheduled, and an appointment made by the council at its Monday, June 22 meeting.

At the council’s meeting Monday night, Member Sharon Darnell, D-4th, took a moment to praise Stone for his years of exemplary service on the Plan Commission. “George Stone was such an amazing asset,” she said. “I’m sorry to see him go.”

Member Jim Ton, R-1st, concurred. “I’d like to thank George for his service,” Ton said. “He really stood tall on the Plan Commission.”
